Latest musings on the Jets

Hello all!

We are less than a week away from Christmas and I am sure that most of you fellow Winnipeg Jets fans have visions of your new Jets' jerseys awaiting you on the big day. I have to say, it would be a major thrill for me to get one of the new jerseys (in the home dark blue please!) underneath the Christmas tree this year.

I will tell you one thing I think all of us will be thinking about during the holiday season this year is how miraculous it is that we have our beloved team back! Think back to exactly a year ago and remember how fantastic the notion of Winnipeg cheering on the Jets seemed...only the most radical (or clinically un-well) would have been adamant that the NHL would return to its rightful place along the Red River yet here we are with a great team to cheer for.

We have a really big game tomorrow night (they are all really big these days, aren't they?) as the Jets continue their homestand at the MTS Centre hosting the New York Islanders. We really need to take advantage of the awesome atmosphere of our home arena to ensure that we win as many of those games as we possibly can. We have a fairly intensive series of road games coming up in January...here is hoping that the fellows can shake off some of their woes away from Manitoba to strike a balance in the home and away win collumn.

One last thing to mention...I was away from a TV signal on Saturday night when Teemu came home for his proper farewell to his original fan base...I must say, it gave me tremendous pride to hear all of the cheering for OUR #13 everytime he did just about anything...he will always be a JET in our hearts and Winnipeg paid him such a classy tribute in everything they did while he was back home. Who knows? Maybe there is some way the team can get him traded to end his career where it began...remember that only a year ago the thought of ever seeing a Winnipeg Jets game again seemed completely remote...we all know that great big dreams can and do come true!

Merry Christmas everyone and here's hoping for a great 2012...maybe even a run for Lord Stanley's mug??
